The body of Celeste Rivas, the 15-year-old girl who was found inside a Tesla belonging to singer D4vd, has been released to her family.
TMZ first reported the news Tuesday night. According to KTLA, Rivas’ body being returned to family means that the coroner has concluded the autopsy and investigation and likely determined a cause of death.
According to a GoFundMe started by Rivas’ family, there will be a funeral service for the teen on Oct. 5.
As of now, no cause of death has been released. Rivas’ decomposing and dismembered body was found on Sept. 8 inside the trunk of a vehicle registered to the 20-year-old D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
Since the discovery, D4vd has been at the center of what is reportedly a homicide investigation, but has not been charged with any crime.
No charges, but plenty of connections
It is important to note that while D4vd has not been implicated by authorities, the “Romantic Homicide” singer has several alarming links to Rivas, a runaway whose mother said she disappeared in April 2024 at the age of 13.
They include:
- Rivas’ body being found in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla
- Reports that the teenager has a matching tattoo with D4vd
- Rivas’ mother saying she was dating a man named David
- D4vd reportedly writing and recording an unreleased 2023 love song about a girl named Celeste
- Accusations from one of Rivas’ former teachers against the musician.
As he remains linked to the investigation, D4vd has canceled his plans for an upcoming tour and album and has also lost a number of partnerships.
However, his streaming numbers on online platforms have reportedly surged amid the negative headlines.
The latest on the investigation
According to the latest reporting from TMZ, the Los Angeles Robbery and Homicide Division is focusing on Rivas’ “troubled past” and the fact she apparently ran away from home on multiple occasions.
“As we reported, her middle school teacher told TMZ Celeste had run away back in January 2024,” TMZ said. “The teacher says police found her in the Hollywood Hills a month later and took her home. It’s worth noting D4vd lives in the Hollywood Hills. Celeste then went missing for the last time in April 2024.”
Cops have yet to announce a suspect in the investigation.
