
There’s family friction ahead on the Coronation Street cobbles as Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) finds herself at odds with her brother James Bailey (Jason Callender) over baby Laila’s future. And what starts off as a simple disagreement spirals into a moral standoff.
In upcoming episodes, Dee-Dee opens up about how much support she’s received from her church and how grateful she is.
Dee-Dee has always made it clear how important her faith is to her, and now she wants the same for her niece.
But her hopes are crushed when he brother James makes it very clear Laila will be raised without religion.

Dee-Dee is left shocked and devastated, having not imagined this being an issue. Not prepared to back down, she decides to go behind James’s back and arrange a meeting with Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) to discuss baptising Laila. Billy quickly pumps the brakes and reminds Dee-Dee that in order to baptise Laila, James must give his permission.
Fans will remember the emotional storyline in which Dee-Dee, believing she couldn’t raise a child herself, made the painful decision to allow her brother James and his partner to adopt baby Laila. It was a selfless act of love that came with enormous emotional cost.
Dee-Dee was under the impression Laila would grow up in America until James and Laila arrived on her doorstep recently, turning her world upside down.


While James has been a devoted father, Dee-Dee has become a huge support and formed a unique bond with her now niece.
With Billy refusing to bend the rules and James set on his decision, Dee-Dee must decide whether to respect James’ decision or to push forward with her own beliefs.
As tensions rise, viewers will be left wondering whether this disagreement will blow over or if it will be the beginning of a much deeper rift in the Bailey family.
