Delta Air Lines Confirms Move That Will Delight Some Travelers

This year, there’s been a downward trend in travel between the United States and other countries, including Canada and European countries. Transatlantic airfares, according to a Reuters report out in June, have fallen “to rates last seen before the pandemic, data shows, the latest sign that fewer Europeans are traveling to the U.S. due to concerns about U.S. border controls” and other issues.

“Overseas arrivals to the United States fell 2.8% in May from a year ago, according to preliminary data from the U.S. National Travel and Tourism Office within the U.S. Department of Commerce,” Reuters adds.

So, travel between the U.S. and other countries is down, but now, Delta Air Lines is going against that trend with new offerings.

On Aug. 27, Delta announced that it’s expanding its international network from Boston Logan with new nonstop service to Madrid (MAD) beginning May 16, 2026, and Nice (NCE) starting May 17, 2026. “These additions bring two of Europe’s most iconic destinations closer to Boston travelers whether for business or leisure,” a Delta communications rep told Men’s Journal in an email.

Delta is also increasing service to Barcelona daily from May 7 and Milan four times per week from May 16.

New Routes for Delta Air Lines

“As Boston’s leading airline, Delta plays a vital role in connecting the city to the world,” Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning, said in a statement. “By adding nonstop service to Madrid and Nice, we’re enhancing our European network and continuing our commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience from start to finish.”

So, expect more options to get to these European hotspots next year. Perhaps Delta is predicting a rebound in international travel in 2026?

“As a cornerstone of Delta’s global network, Boston plays a vital role in connecting our customers to the world,” said Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning, added. “By adding nonstop service to Madrid and Nice, we’re enhancing our European network and continuing our commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience from start to finish.”

With these changes, Delta Air Lines will now serve 12 European hotspots from Boston. These additions are part of Boston being a “premier global gateway” in for Delta Air Lines.
