Delta Resumes All Flights to Major Airport

As a result of ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Delta abruptly canceled all of its flights to Tel Aviv, Israel back in June, putting a wrench in many customers’ travel plans given that Tel Aviv is a major hub in the region.

However, with the conflict in the area quite a bit more calm now, Delta has decided that it will resume those daily flights.

Delta Paused Tel Aviv Flights

On Friday, June 13, Israel’s capital city of Tel Aviv was hit with missile strikes from Iran in retaliation for Israel’s previous strikes against Iran. As a result of the conflict, Delta abruptly canceled its flights between New York and Tel Aviv.

“Delta has paused flights to Tel Aviv (TLV) from New York-JFK through August 31 in response to the current conflict in the region,” Delta wrote in a statement back in June.

“Customers impacted by flight cancellations will receive notifications via the Fly Delta app and contact information listed in their reservation as these cancellations are processed in Delta’s system and may contact Delta or their travel agent for rebooking options.”

While Delta stated that the flight would be paused through Aug. 31, Delta indicated that it would continue to minitor the situation and would provide continued updates.

“The safety of our customers and crew remains our top priority. Delta is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing our operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports. Updates will be communicated as needed,” Delta’s statement continued.

While Delta indicated in its statement that flights would be paused until Aug. 31, there was obviously the possibility that the haitus could last longer, considering the airline indicated that it was actively monitoring the situation.

However, on Monday, Delta officially resumed the daily service from New York’s JFK airport to Tel Aviv.

“Delta will resume daily flights to Tel Aviv (TLV) from New York-JFK on Sept. 1, 2025. The route will be flown on Delta’s state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900neo, offering four product experiences: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main,” Delta wrote in an announcement on Monday. “Seats on Delta partner airlines Air France and KLM also remain bookable.”

Ongoing Assessment

It’s worth noting that just because Delta has resumed daily flights to Tel Aviv does not mean that the airline couldn’t reverse course at a moment’s notice. In fact, when Delta canceled all flights to Tel Aviv back in June, the decision came just a few weeks after the airline resumed the daily flights.

In its statement, Delta indicated that it was “continuously monitoring” the situation given the volatility and ongoing conflict in the area.

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew. Delta is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing our operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports,” Delta wrote in its statement.

Tel Aviv is one of the largest and most important hubs in the Middle East with Ben Gurion Airport handling millions of travelers every month. Given the hub’s importance to the region and the volatility in the area, it’s worth staying up to date on the status of this flight as you plan your trips.
