Denise Richards opened up about her tumultuous relationship with ex-husband Charlie Sheen in the new documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, admitting that there are still feelings involved.
“I still love him,” Denise said through tears during part-two of the Netflix doc.
The former couple detailed meeting on the set of the “forgettable” film Good Advice in 2001.
The Two and a Half Men star called it an “instant fantasy,” adding, “She was the hottest woman alive at the time.”
According to Denise, Charlie was “nervous” about asking her on a date.
“That’s the thing that people would be surprised by – Charlie can be very shy,” she added. The pair spent their first date in Charlie’s apartment with microwave dinners watching Barry Bonds make history.
After tying the knot in 2002, Charlie and Denise welcomed daughters Sami and Lola before divorcing in 2006.
“As soon as [Two and a Half Men] started getting really successful, I think the pressure of that changed him,” she said. “It was almost like he was sabotaging the success and sabotaging our family.”
She continued, “The truth is, I feel like my life with Charlie is three stages. It’s the time I met him and married him, then my divorce. Then the aftermath of it.”
Sheen’s well-documented downfall due to substance abuse was headline news in the late 2000s. He finally set the record straight, admitting he’s been sober for eight years, in the two-part Netflix documentary.
