Thanks to flourishing business in investment banking and stable costs, Germany’s largest financial institution was able to record its highest pre-tax profit since at least 2007. Deutsche Bank achieved impressive record results in the third quarter of 2025, significantly exceeding analysts’ expectations. With a pre-tax profit of 2.4 billion euros, the largest German financial institution achieved its highest figure in a third quarter since at least 2007. This development is primarily due to the flourishing business in investment banking, which contributed significantly to its success.
The bank’s revenue rose to around 8 billion euros from July to September, exceeding analysts’ forecasts of 7.77 billion euros. The increase in sales in investment banking was particularly notable, increasing by 18 percent to almost three billion euros compared to the previous year. CFO James von Moltke had already predicted strong business with bonds and currencies, which has now been confirmed.
The profit attributable to shareholders amounted to around 1.6 billion euros, an increase of seven percent compared to the previous year. These results underline the successful implementation of the bank’s strategic realignment under the leadership of CEO Christian Sewing. Sewing sees the bank on the right track to generating income of around 32 billion euros this year and increasing the return on equity to over ten percent.
Deutsche Bank made a profit of 4.8 billion euros in the first nine months of the year, which further underlines the positive development of the institute. In 2024 as a whole, the bank earned almost 5.3 billion euros before taxes. The current results show that Deutsche Bank is on a stable growth path and is further consolidating its position in the global financial market.
