Diana Vickers has detailed an incredibly awkward encounter with former X Factor host Dermot O’Leary.
The singer and actress, 34, rose to fame on the ITV programme in 2008, finishing in fourth place.
Following the show, she went on to pursue a music career, as well as appearing in the TV comedy series Give Out Girls and in West End productions including The Rise and Fall of Little Voice.
However, she’s now explained how an attempt to reconnect with former X Factor host Dermot – who hosted the show from 2007 until 2018.
During the latest episode of Metro’s podcast Just Between Us podcast, she recalled how a quip from The Queer Bible Jack Guiness’ boyfriend left her in hot water.
Whilst backstage at Glastonbury, Jack decided he wanted to witness a reunion between Diana and Dermot, 52.

‘I really want you to speak to Dermot. I want to get a picture with you. We need to do this,’ Jack recalled.
‘I was just doing it for my own amusement. The idea of two X Factor legends reunited backstage at Glastonbury just tickled my gay funny bone like nobody’s business.’
Diana then jumped in: ‘Yeah, you absolutely loved it. And so, we came over. But Dermot—nicest guy in the industry, nicest guy in the world, just so, so sweet. And then Ollie, Jack’s boyfriend, was with us, sort of lingering, wasn’t he? And then we were chatting, whatever. And then Jack went, “Oh, this is Ollie, by the way, my boyfriend”.
‘Well, then Dermot went, “Oh, is this your boyfriend, Diana?”. !Oh, no, no, no”, we said. He went, “Oh, I’m Jack’s boyfriend”.’

But then Ollie ‘got really awkward’ and ‘out of nowhere’ made a confession about their history.

‘He just said to Dermot O’Leary, “She’s not my girlfriend, but we do have a sexual attraction. And we did explore it once”. And I went, “When?”. And he went, “We snogged. And you only forgot that you snogged!”.
Diana added: ‘Anyway, yeah, we snogged. We made out, didn’t we? And I was like, “Oh my God!”. While Dermot was stood there going—he got the ick. Dermot O’Leary got the ick, and he got weirded out, and he wandered off.’
Jack then concluded their chat by making a cheeky quip: ‘And it’s just a testament to how many gay guys Diana has made out with that she just doesn’t remember.’
On a previous episode of Just Between Us Diana – who has been single for several years and recently revealed she’d been celibate the past year – explained how she once ended up in a ‘bizarre’ situation with Hollywood A-lister Leonardo DiCaprio.
‘I did meet Leo once. He will have no memory of meeting me,’ she shared.

She explained: ‘One of his mates invited me around to his house. I thought it was going to be a party.
‘Then I ended up just sitting with him watching telly. It was a really, really bizarre moment.’
Diana said she believed his friends would ‘source hot women’ for the actor – which she labelled ‘really dodgy’.
‘That stuff happens a lot in Hollywood. These men have got so much fame and power, and they don’t want to grow up,’ she said.
‘They just want to be surrounded by beautiful young women all the time. I am not generalising Leo here, I think that’s just what happens.

‘It’s quite weird actually.’
Last month Diana made her return to music after a 12-year break, releasing the single Ice Cream, which she said was a ‘musical love letter to the gays and the girlies’.
‘It feels very satisfying and exciting and the right time. I’ve been away for a long time, but I did a gig a couple of years ago and it just reignited this fire in me where I was like, I just love being on stage,’ she said.
‘I thought, “You know what, I think there is an audience for me still there”,’ she told Attitude magazine.
