Disney and ABC came under fire last week after announcing their unprecedented decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
The decision was made after ABC received pressure from the FCC and station owners nationwide following comments the host made about the death of Charlie Kirk that were deemed controversial.
The backlash was swift as thousands of fans joined a boycott and cancelled subscriptions to Disney+ and Hulu. Some even cancelled planned vacations to Disney resorts and cruises.
More than 400 celebrities signed an open letter with the ACLU to “defend free speech.”
Days later, Disney and ABC walked back their decision and reinstated the long-running talk show.
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” Disney said in a statement on Monday. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
Hours before Kimmel’s highly-anticipated return, Disney+ announced they would be increasing their prices for their remaining subscribers beginning in October.

- Disney+ Premium (no ads) is currently $15.99 but will increase $18.99 beginning October 21.
- Disney+, Hulu Bundle (with ads) is currently $10.99 but will increase to $12.99 per month beginning October 21.
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle (with ads) is currently $16.99 but will increase to $19.99 beginning October 21.
- Disney+, Hulu (no ads), ESPN Select Bundle Premium (with ads) is currently $26.99 but will increase to $29.99 beginning October 21.
- Disney+ Premium (no ads), Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle Legacy (with ads) is currently $21.99 but will increase to $24.99 beginning October 21.
- Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle (With Ads) is currently $16.99 but will increase to $19.99 beginning October 21.
