Doña Elo, a woman who hugged her husband during floods in Poza Rica, dies

After the floods caused by the overflowing of the Cazones River in Rica’s pictureVeracruz, a video went viral showing an elderly couple waiting for their rescue, hugging and clinging to each other in the midst of the contingency. Unfortunately, Elodia Reyes Azuara, known as Doña Elo, one of the protagonists of the recording, died last Monday.

Mrs. Elo and her husband Hilario Reynosa They were noticed after the dissemination of one of the most moving videos in recent yearssince the couple, who had been together for more than 26 years, was the victim of a devastating disaster that led them to hold on to each other in order to survive.

The love story that moved all of Mexico, unfortunately, came to an end this October 27, as different media reported that Elodia Reyes, the resilient woman who waited on the roof of her house to be rescued in the middle of the flood, died due to cardiorespiratory arrest.

According to reports, after being rescued, Hilario and Elodia were transferred to the municipality of orange treesbecause his house was completely destroyed by water. Days later they returned to Poza Rica to clean the place.

It was then that Mrs. Reyes began to feel unwell and was taken to a hospital to treat her case; shortly after, Mr. Reynosa had to say goodbye to the person with whom he fought to save his life in the midst of the natural disaster, since his death was confirmed.

“I didn’t want to die, I didn’t; the only thing I asked God and the Virgin was not to take me, not to let me drown,” Doña Elo confessed in an interview about the tragedy.

Both the community of Poza Rica and the entire country are in mourning. for the departure of this brave woman and for the other lives that were lost in the floods.

It was reported that Doña Elo’s remains will be transferred to the municipality of Naranjos, where she was originally from, for burial.
