Donald Trump says he is “willing” to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during his Asian tour

The president of the United States, Donald Trump stated this Saturday that he was “willing, without a doubt” to meet with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, in the framework of a tour through Asia which starts this weekend in Malaysia.

“If he wants to meet with me, I am willing to do so,” Trump said in statements to reporters aboard the presidential plane to Malaysia, where he will participate in the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)the first stop on an Asian tour that will also take you to Japan and South Korea.

However, South Korea stressed this Saturday that the meeting is still possible and that there are “signs” that Pyongyang and Washington could be preparing for a meeting, taking advantage of the American’s visit to the country during the events of the forum Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

South Korean Unification Minister Chung Dong-younghas stressed that Pyongyang has been observed carrying out cleaning tasks and arranging gardens on its side of Panmunjona village located in the demilitarized zone that divides the two Koreas and where Kim and Trump met in 2019.
