Donald Trump has gone off on another tangent, claiming he will strip a popular comedian of her citizenship.
Taking to Truth Social, the US President said Rosie O’Donnell is not ‘in the best interests of our Great country’.
He added: ‘I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her.’
O’Donnell and Trump have a long history, with the comedian moving to Ireland after Trump won the election in 2024.
She said his victory meant she and her non-binary child had to leave the country, adding: ‘It’s been heartbreaking and personally very, very sad to watch.’
It’s unclear what sparked Trump’s sudden threat to O’Donnell, who has been living in Ireland for almost a year now, but he has no legal power to strip her of citizenship.

Touching on her decision to flee, she declared that the 78-year-oldleader ‘had it out for her’ for years, stemming from remarks she made on The View nearly two decades ago.
O’Donnell made her feelings about Trump very clear during a discussion about a controversial Miss USA winner on The View in 2006, and didn’t hold back about the then-TV star, who owned the pageant at the time.
After winner Tara Conner was accused of doing drugs and drinking underage, he held a press conference to insist that she should be ‘given a second chance’, a stance that the host found ‘annoying’.
‘He annoys me on a multitude of levels,’ she fumed to her fellow panellist. ‘He’s the moral authority – left the first wife, had an affair, left the second wife, had an affair, had kids both times, but he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America.
Threatening legal action, he added: ‘Rosie will rue the words she said. I’ll most likely sue her for making those false statements — and it’ll be fun. Rosie’s a loser. A real loser.’

Trump went on to slam her during his first election campaign in 2016, mentioning her in a debate: ‘Somebody who has been very vicious to me, Rosie O’Donnell, I said very tough things to her, and I think everybody would agree that she deserves it and nobody feels sorry for her.’
Hitting back in a now-deleted Twitter post, O’Donnell branded him an ‘orange anus’.
‘I didn’t want to live with it when he was back in office. I knew it would tax me emotionally to have to do that. I’m very happy we made the decision we made,’ O’Donnell said after moving.
Even with the threats to take away O’Donnell’s citizenship, it’s unlikely that it will amount to much.
Immigration courts have no power over U.S. citizens. If Trump wanted to strip her of her citizenship, he’d have to go through the federal judiciary, which is independent and would likely rule on the side of O’Donnell, who has done no wrong except criticise Trump.
