Donald Trump has lashed out at Grammys host Trevor Noah after the comedian poked fun at his links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Over the years, the US President has come under fire for his friendship with the financier and child sex offender but has always denied knowledge of his criminal activities. Despite this he’s faced pressure after initially pushing back against promises he made to publicly release files relating to Epstein.

Last week the Department of Justice released more than three million pages of documents, 180,000 images and 2,000 videos from its Epstein files, with one document revealing that FBI agents were told Trump allegedly sexually abused an underage girl over three decades ago.

However soon after, the White House said any claims made in the files about Trump were ‘unfounded and false’. Appearing in the documents does not imply wrongdoing.

Despite this, Noah didn’t miss his chance to call out the President while hosting the 2026 Grammys overnight.

During the opening monologue, the comedian took aim at Nicki Minaj, who last week courted controversy for declaring she was Trump’s ‘number one fan’.

‘Nicki Minaj is not here, she is not here, uh,’ he began, as the crowd cheered loudly. Doing an impression of Trump, he continued: ‘She is still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues: “Actually, Nicki, I have the biggest ass, I have it. Everybody’s saying it Nicki, I know they say it’s you, but it’s me. Womp womp womp, look at it baby”.’

Later in the night, after Billie Eilish won song of the year, he said: ‘That is a Grammy that every artist wants – almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense, I mean, because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.’

Soon after the awards ceremony wrapped up, Trump took to Truth Social to deride Noah and his comments.

‘The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer,’ he began.

‘The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards. Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!

‘I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media.’

He continued: ‘Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$. Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you! President DJT.’

The South African comedian is yet to publicly respond to the post.

However, he was far from the only person at the event taking aim at the President and his administration, with many attendees turning up wearing ‘ICE OUT’ pins and calling out the country’s current immigration policies.

Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny – real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – made history becoming the first Spanish-language artist to win album of the year with his hit album Debí Tirar Más Fotos.

Wiping away tears when accepting his award, he said: ‘I want to dedicate this award to all the people that had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams,” he said in English.

Earlier in the night – when winning best musica urbana album – he didn’t mince his words.

‘Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say, ICE out,’ he said before receiving a standing ovation.

‘We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans. I know it’s tough to not hate these days. And I was thinking, sometimes we get contaminated. The hate gets more powerful with more hate.

‘The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them; we love our people. We love our family, and that’s the way to do it – with love. Don’t forget that, please.’

During her acceptance speech after winning best new artist, Olivia Dean also wiped away tears whilst sharing she ‘never really imagined’ she could ever be on the Grammys stage.

‘I’m up here as the granddaughter of an immigrant,’ said the singer, born to an English father and Jamaican-Guyanese mother, a comment which saw her receive a strong applause from the audience.

‘I wouldn’t be here… I’m a product of bravery and I think those people deserve to be celebrated. We’re nothing without each other.’

During her speech after winning song of the year for Wildflower, Billie Eilish also shared that it was ‘just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now’.

‘No-one is illegal on stolen land. And I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter, and the people matter,’ she added.

Among those wearing ‘ICE OUT’ pins on the red carpet included Eilish, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Kehlani and Joni Mitchell.

Meanwhile Gloria Estefan – who won best tropical Latin album for her release Raices – said backstage that she felt ‘very worried’ about the current state of the US.

‘I don’t think anyone would say we want a free-for-all at the border. But what is happening is not at all criminals being arrested. These are people that have families that have contributed to this country for decades,’ she said.

Her on-stage speech also expressed concerns about the ongoing immigration raids, saying the country must ‘hold dear and true’ to its democratic principles.

These stars’ statements come amidst the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration, which has drawn intense criticism in the past few months following protests and clashes in Minneapolis, including the shooting deaths of two American citizens, Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
