Donna Kelce Breaks Silence on Major Travis Kelce Change

After suffering a blowout loss in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce contemplated retirement before eventually deciding to come back for another season.

What Travis Kelce Said About His Comeback

Kelce previously admitted he didn’t have his best outing in the Super Bowl, but promised to come back with a vengeance during the offseason ahead of the 2025 campaign.

“I don’t think it was my best outing. I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve been in years past. I want to give it a good run,” he said. “I’ve got a bad taste in my mouth on how I ended the year and how well I was playing and how accountable I was for the people around me. I love so many people in Kansas City, both in that facility and in the community.”

Mom Donna Kelce Noticed His Change

Donna Kelce, the mother of the Chiefs superstar and former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce, admitted this year will be “different” for the future Hall of Fame tight end.

“This is going to be, I think, a different year for him. He really hunkered down and did a lot of training in the off-season,” Kelce told People while praising Kelce’s dedication to his fitness this offseason.

“He’s faster now than he’s been in the last four years. He’s really slimmed down a little bit and it just makes it easier than carrying all that load, like running and stuff like that,” she revealed.

The Chiefs open the 2025 season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, Sept. 5 as the NFL plays its second ever game in Brazil following a season-opener between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles in 2024.
