Federal authorities seized more than 600 kilograms of methamphetamine and other drugs in the port of Mazatlan, Sinaloareported Omar García HarfuchSecretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
According to García Harfuch, the operation was led by the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), which made the discovery during a cargo transportation inspection operation. The drugs were hidden in the false bottom of a tractor-trailer, which allowed them to be transported without being initially detected.
The head of the SSPC pointed out that this assurance prevented more than 15 million doses of drugs from reaching the population. In his X account, he highlighted the importance of these actions to stop the distribution of illicit substances and protect citizens from the risks associated with drug use.
The operation is part of the continuous actions of federal authorities to combat drug trafficking in ports and transportation routes in Sinaloaone of the states with the highest incidence of crimes related to drug trafficking.
With this seizure, the security forces confirmed their commitment to maintain surveillance at strategic points and strengthen the prevention of organized crime, reinforcing controls on cargo transport that can be used to hide drugs.
