Her ‘violent behaviour’ forced the plane to land early at 7.20pm local time (6.20pm in the UK).
The woman was met by police after the plane landed at Cologne Bonn Airport.
‘In consultation with the Cologne police, she was taken to the station for further processing and placed in police custody to sober up,’ spokesperson Mathias Kämpfer said.
The holidaymaker was denied her entry into the country and placed in custody.
She will be deported back to the UK ‘immediately’, German police said.
The original plane then suffered technical issues and could not take off.
So passengers were left to wait in a transit area before a replacement plane could fly them to Greece later in the evening.
German Police issued a statement about the dangers of drunk flying alongside news of the incident.

They said: ‘Even small amounts can have a significantly stronger effect than on the ground due to the unique stresses of flying—such as lower air pressure and altered oxygen concentrations.
‘Aggressive behavior not only endangers other passengers but can also severely impair the safety of a flight. The Federal Police therefore urges responsible consumption of alcohol in air travel.’
