Dwayne Johnson Reportedly Developing Hulu TV Series

Dwayne Johnson became famous as a professional wrestler but for some time now, the 53-year-old performer has been a mainstay in the entertainment scene, starring in dozens of movies as well as several television shows.

Next up, Johnson is reportedly planning to break into the reality television world. According to a new report from Deadline, the Moana star is in the process of developing a reality series for Hulu.

More details on Johnson’s latest project

Deadline writes that the series will be based in Hawaii, where Johnson spent a good portion of his childhood, and will “focus on the culturally diverse women of Hawai’i and showcase an authentic part of the island and its people.”

The show is being produced by Seven Bucks Productions, Johnson’s company that he runs with ex-wife Dany Garcia. Seven Bucks also produced Disney’s live-action Moana, which will release in 2026 and also stars Johnson, along with TV shows like Ballers, The Titan Games, Behind the Attraction and Who Killed WCW?.

Johnson’s ties to Hawaii run deep

Not only did The Rock spend some of his formative years in Hawaii, but he has also donated to causes benefitting the state following multiple recent natural disasters, including the 2023 Maui wildfires.

Speaking of Maui, Johnson played the main character in the 2016 live-animated version of Moana and is set to reprise that role in the upcoming live action adaptation.

Earlier this year, he was also cast, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt, in Martin Scorsese’s new crime drama film on the influence of the Mafia in Hawaii, described as “Goodfellas meets The Departed.”

“Grateful for what’s been the most creatively inspiring time of my career – working closely with my friends and of course, the maestro Marty Scorsese,” Johnson wrote on X/Twitter at the time.

“In the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s the mafia controlled New York, Miami, Chicago, Vegas, and a particularly strong hold on the island I was raised – Hawaii. Much more to come. Aloha nui loa.”
