With Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) now fully ensconced as the new landlady of The Queen Vic, it is the dawn of a new era in EastEnders – not least for the pub’s former owners, the Carter/Knight clan.
While it remains to be seen what the future holds for Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), a new role has been confirmed for George Knight (Colin Salmon).
George has been at a loose end in the Square since he split from Elaine after she cheated on him earlier this year.
Events later saw him move out of the boozer and demand that Elaine return the money he had invested in The Vic.

With the pub now sold, George lands a new gig next week, courtesy of Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington).
Fans of the BBC soap recently saw the pair lamenting over their disastrous love lives over a drink in Harry’s Barn, and they are drawn back into each other’s orbits in forthcoming scenes thanks to drama involving Nicola’s son Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) and George’s brother Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho).
Harry has been crashing at co-worker Kojo’s place with George, and unbeknown to him, Harry has been using the flat to stash drugs that Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) is forcing him to deal.

To cover up his illicit business, Harry needs to find a way to distract George and keep him out of the flat and enlists Nicola’s help.
Nicola later offers George the job of Head of Security at Harry’s Barn, clearly hoping the unsociable hours will keep him busy.
But will George accept the job offer, and will getting close to the Mitchells prove to be a dangerous move?
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 28 July at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
