Mexico City, October 29 (However).– The Secretary of Economy, Marcello Ebrard Casaubonheld a meeting this Wednesday with the commercial representative of USAhe Ambassador Jamieson Greerduring the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum Summit (APEC, for its acronym in English), held in GyeonjuSouth Korea.
“Secretary Ebrard and Ambassador Greer followed up on the call recently held by President Claudia Sheinbaum and President Donald Trump, in which the leaders agreed their teams will continue negotiating to reach a trade agreement,” the Ministry of Economy said in a statement.
During the private meeting, Ebrard and Greer reviewed the progress of the talks between Mexico and the United States, and “agreed on the next steps to follow with the aim of reaching an agreement before the T-MEC review process in 2026,” the agency stated.

The head of Economy represents President Sheinbaum at the APEC Summit, a forum that brings together 21 Pacific economies that together concentrate more than 60 percent of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and close to half of world trade.
As part of his activities, the Secretary also met with his US Commerce counterpart, Howard Lutnick.
Previously, he held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Trade and Investment of New Zealand, Todd McClay, and with the Minister of Sustainability, Environment and Trade Relations of Singapore, Grace Fu.
In these meetings, Ebrard agreed to promote bilateral economic relations with his counterparts, while highlighting the investment opportunities that our country offers through Plan Mexico, the Secretariat reported.
