Ed Sheeran has revealed he already has an album in place that fans won’t hear until after his death.

The Shape Of You singer, 34, told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe that alongside his final lifetime release, called Stop, there will be a follow-up record called Eject, which will only arrive after he’s gone.

‘Well no, it’s actually it would be Stop and then Eject,’ Sheeran explained, when Lowe suggested Stop would be his last ever project.

‘Eject is the album in the will. It’s actually in my will and Cherry [Seaborn, his wife] gets to pick the tracks for it. It’s fully like—it’s in there if I were to go tomorrow.’

Sheeran added that the record will serve as a retrospective of his songwriting life, with Cherry curating the material from his vault of unreleased songs.

‘My will of wishes is to make a record out of all the songs from the age of 18, so when I pass away. Choose the 10 best. And it’s like, imagine if Paul McCartney dies and there’s early 16-year-old Beatles recordings and then right up to it, the 10 best of his entire career.’

He continued: ‘Lots of people won’t like that of me, but there’ll be lots of my fans that would find that super-interesting.’

The Perfect hitmaker admitted he’ll likely drop ‘hints’ to Cherry about the songs he hopes make the cut, but stressed he doesn’t want anyone else interfering with his catalogue once he’s gone.

‘I don’t want people to just jumble up stuff and put it out,’ he said.

The revelation comes as Sheeran continues to cement his legacy in other ways, too.

The star recently made headlines for constructing a private chapel and burial chamber on the grounds of his sprawling Suffolk estate.

The boat-shaped retreat, approved in 2019 after an initial plan was rejected, is described in planning documents as having a ‘burial zone beneath.’

Sheeran and Cherry, who married in 2019, share two daughters: Lyra Antarctica, five, and Jupiter, three.

While Eject may be years – or decades – away, Sheeran isn’t slowing down in the present.

His new album Play arrives this Friday (12 September 2025), and fans can expect Rewind in 2027 before the curtain call of Stop.
