EFL star’s first interview with new club interrupted by enormous fart sound as stunned fans ask ‘did it smell?’

LIAM ROBERTS saw his first interview at his new EFL club interrupted by a strange noise.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper completed a transfer to League One outfit Mansfield Town on a two-year-deal earlier this month after his Millwall contract expired.

However, Roberts’ first interview with the club since his arrival left fans smelling something was off.

The Walsall academy graduate was recalling his career so far and speaking about how he was excited to get into training with his new team-mates.

But in the middle of his speech a bizarre rumbling noise was heard.

Fans watching the video were taken aback by it and were convinced the noise was a fart due to the resemblance.

One said on social media: “Has he s*** himself?”

A second said: “Did it smell?”

A third added: “Did he just s*** himself?”

Another said: “Absolute stinker of an interview.”

A fifth said: “Can smell it from here.”

Regardless, the noise did not faze Roberts as he carried on seamlessly with the interview.

The true origin of the noise is not clear.

Looking ahead to next season, Roberts backed the team to have a “right go,” revealing he had also spoke to manager Nigel Clough before going away for a holiday.

He said: “I think we’re going to have a right go you know. I spoke to the gaffer before I went away and towards Christmas time we were obviously in the play-offs and really pushing for it.

“Unfortunately, we had a few injuries – obviously height of the season then – so yeah, but I think we’ll have a right go again and go for that promotion.

“At the start of the season you might as well set you’re targets as high as possibly can and ultimately can we get there? I believe in this team we’ll have a right go at doing it.”

He added: “Yeah why wouldn’t you be [excited about the move], it’s a great club.”

Roberts played just six times for Millwall last season, including two games in the Championship and four cup games.

One of his FA Cup games saw him sent off for a horror flying tackle on Crystal Palace‘s Jean-Philippe Mateta that left the forward needing 25 stitches in his ear after being taken to hospital.

He was handed a six-game ban for the “reckless” challenge.

Roberts revealed he personally apologised to Mateta following the incident, before later revealing his family had been subjected to shocking death threats.

He also previously played for Middlesbrough, Northampton, Barnsley and Chester.
