José Luis Rodríguez “El Guana” invites Yucatecans not to miss the premiere of the new season of “I fall with laughter.”
For more than a decade, “Me Caigo de Larisa” has remained one of the favorite comedy shows on Mexican television.
To find out the details of this long-awaited installment, José Luis Rodríguez “El Guana”, one of the most beloved members of the “dysfunctional family”, shared in an interview his enthusiasm for returning to this project that has marked his career.
“We already premiered this Monday the 27th, at a new time, at 7:30 on the 5th, and we are very happy. Every year we look forward to the confirmation of a new season. When it finally arrives, it is back to playing with our dysfunctional brothers,” he expresses with the joy that characterizes him.
“El Guana” returns to the program after his participation in the third season of “La Casa de los Famosos México”, an experience that he describes as overwhelming due to the national reach he had, but also as an opportunity to be grateful for everything he has experienced in his career.
“I had not thought about the impact it would have. It is one of the most watched programs on Mexican television and being a part of it was incredible. But none of that would have been possible without the previous projects, such as ‘Me caigo de laughter’, ‘Marilú’, ‘El Príncipe del Barrio’ or ‘The work that goes wrong. Everything is connected,’ he reflects.
Regarding his return to the set, he says that it was possible thanks to the support of Lalo Suárez, producer of the program, who decided to wait for him to leave the reality show to join the recordings.
“They started recording about three weeks before I left. As soon as I was away, I joined in to record some shows. We took a break and we’ll pick up the rest of the season in early November. I’m happy to be back.”
In this new stage, “I Fall for Laughter” will have renewed games and the incorporation of four new members to the dysfunctional family, including Adriana Montes de Oca and Caro Vélez.
Coming from theater and improvisation, they will bring new energy to the program. “They are very talented. They are going to have a lot of fun, you will get to know them.”
Regarding the permanence of the program in the public’s taste for more than ten years, “El Guana” considers that the key is in authenticity and simplicity.
“There is no formula. What we want is for people to have fun, to laugh with us and at us. It is an unpretentious program, in which for two hours you forget about stress, problems, and it reunites you with your family, with your children, with grandma. It is the most beautiful thing.”
In addition to his return to television, the actor continues to be active in the theater. He is currently part of the cast of “What remains of us”, which is presented on Saturdays at one in the afternoon at the Ofelia Theatre, and recently re-released “The play that goes wrong”, a comedy that has garnered applause every season.
Before saying goodbye, “El Guana” wanted to send a special message to the Yucatecan public: “Don’t miss the premiere of ‘Me Caigo de Larisa’ this October 27 on the 5th at 7:30 at night. We send you a big hug to Yucatán. We hope to soon have you as an audience in the forum as well.”
Thus, between laughter, thanks and new projects, El Guana remains one of the prominent faces in comedy in Mexico, with a career that continues to grow and an energy that infects everyone who listens to him. The date is made, the humor returns to the screen, and this dysfunctional family promises to continue conquering all members of the family equally.—DARINKA RUIZ Morimoto
