Mexico City, October 26 (However).- The Train Mexico-Tolucaknown as “He Insurgent“, you can travel from the capital of the State of Mexico (Edomex) to the terminal Observatoryin the Mexico City (CdMx) at the end of January 2026, announced this Sunday the President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
The Chief Executive today he took a tour of the stations Santa Fe, Vasco de Quiroga and Observatory to supervise the progress of the work; was accompanied by the Head of Government of the capital, Clara Brugadaand for the Mexican Governor, Delfina Gómez.
After concluding her tour, the president revealed that the civil and electromechanical works have already been completed, allowing the testing period to begin, which will last around three months.
“We have already finished the civil work of the Mexico City-Toluca ‘El Insurgente’ Train, practically all the electromechanics are finished and from now on the testing period begins, which is very important because it requires testing of the signaling, the certification, everything that has to do with the train, it takes around three months of testing to be able to get it ready. This means that at the end of January 2026 the ‘El Insurgente’ Train will be able to be used by the entire population,” said the President Sheinbaum.
Once the entire Mexico-Toluca Train line comes into operation, users will be able to travel from the capital of Edomex to the west of CdMx in 40 minutes, a journey that previously took around two and a half hours.
For his part, the head of the Railway Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF), Andrés Lajous, reported that the “El Insurgente” Train, which will travel from Zinacantepec to Observatorio, will operate with 20 trains that will be able to transport 140 thousand passengers a day.

He stressed that this work will connect the Metropolitan Area of Toluca with the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico, through Metro Lines 1 and 12, Cablebús Line 3, the Passenger Transport Network (RTP) from the Observatory Central, and the Poniente Bus Terminal.
It is worth mentioning that, once the Vasco de Quiroga and Observatorio stations come into operation, the cost of the Mexico-Toluca Train ticket will be modified, so users will have to pay from 15 to 90 pesos depending on their route, which represents a lower cost than the 112 pesos that the bus trip currently costs.
On another topic, President Sheinbaum announced that the section from Observatorio to Juanacatlán of Line 1 of the CdMx Metro will come into operation in the month of November 2025.
