Vivian Wilson isn’t your average 21-year-old.
Like others her age, she loves the Hunger Games, cheap wine and Drag Race. But Vivan’s father is one of the richest men in the world.
In 2022, she petitioned for a name and gender change, wanting to essentially cut ties with her famous father, Elon Musk.
Musk’s eldest child’s request for a gender change was granted, and she was issued a new birth certificate, reading Vivian Jenna Wilson.
The relationship with her father has been tumultuous – after being initially supportive of his daughter’s transition, writing on X: ‘I think it is important to defend her right to privacy,’ Musk changed his tune.
In 2024, he went online and publicly deadnamed and denounced his daughter, saying she had been ‘killed by the woke mind virus’.
She hit back: ‘Last time I checked, I am indeed not dead.’
For one of the first times publicly since the fallout, Vivian has spoken to the press and said she doesn’t want to be like her father and be ‘superrich’.
‘College is expensive. I don’t have that inheritance,’ she told The Cut.
‘People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal.’
Vivian’s father is worth an estimated £310,595,444,918 – but she said she isn’t salty about it.
‘I don’t have a desire to be superrich. I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter, and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles,’ she added.
Musk’s catapult to the spotlight after endorsing Donald Trump and even heading up his ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ has put unwanted attention on all of his children.
Vivian was the subject of much of this abuse from the far-right, but said she’s been getting more support than hate.
‘I get a lot of hate posts about me. But what the f*ck am I supposed to do about that? I don’t really have a choice other than to build a bridge and get over it,’ she said.
Who are Elon Musk’s children?
Musk shares five children with his ex-wife, Justine, Vivian’s mother, with whom he was married between 2000 and 2008.
During their marriage, they welcomed Vivian and her twin brother, Griffin, and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian.
Musk then welcomed X AE A-XII, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus with singer Grimes.
Musk also had twins, Strider Zilis Musk and Azure Zilis Musk, with his Neuralink company’s employee, Shivon Zilis.
In early 2024, Shivon and Musk welcomed their child, Arcadia. They later welcomed Seldon Lycurgus.
In early 2025, influencer Ashley St Clair made the bombshell announcement that she and Musk had welcomed a boy named Romulus.
