The Government of Mexico presented a new report on the effects of the rains that hit several states in the country, as well as the progress that has been made in terms of opening roads, restoring electrical energy and censuses of affected families.

Mexico City, October 16 (However).- More than a week after heavy rains hit various regions of the country, causing severe floods and landslides that especially affected the state of Veracruz, he Government of Mexico This morning he gave a general report on the relief tasks that have been carried out, as well as the damages that have been recorded. Among the data that was released, it stands out that the electrical service has been restored by 93 percent, in addition to having been censused more than 26 thousand homes.
During his morning conference today, the President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo was accompanied by Jesus Antonio Esteva Medinaholder of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT)who presented a report on the effects that are observed today in the five states that were most affected by the rains: Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz.
As indicated by the Secretary, as of October 16, 2025, there are 108 affected municipalities in the aforementioned entities, while 160 localities remain incommunicado; 84 of them in Hidalgo, 21 in Puebla, 10 in Querétaro and 45 in Veracruz.

Regarding cut-off communities, Esteva Medina highlighted that the number was reduced in almost all states; in Hidalgo they went from 111 to 84, in Puebla they went from 29 to 21, in San Luis Potosí they went from two to one and in Veracruz they went from 46 to 45. The only exception was Querétaro, where they went from three to 10, due to a landslide that occurred in the municipality of San Joaquín.
In his participation, the official stated that the work carried out to free roads and highways “is gradual” and progress is being made with priority on federal highways, which have been almost completely freed. “Then we go to the state roads and from there there are referrals to municipal and liberating roads,” he indicated.
Another who also participated in the “town morning”, although from a distance, was the head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), Mario Delgado, who provided a preliminary report on the educational infrastructure affected by the rains.
According to what was announced by the Secretary, a total of 821 educational facilities were damaged by the rainfall; 209 in Hidalgo, 176 in Puebla, 71 in Querétaro, 62 in San Luis Potosí and 303 in Veracruz.
For her part, Emilia Esther Calleja Alor, general director of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), reported that, to date, 93 percent of the electricity supply has been restored in the five states affected by the rains, which represents a benefit for 243,762 users.
The official explained that there are still 19,700 users who are still in the restoration process, who live in the regions most affected and, therefore, which are difficult to access.
