It seems Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) is starting to warm to the idea of having a friend in Emmerdale.
Newcomer Celia, already loved by plenty of fans, arrived earlier this year. Her first main storyline involved her clashing with Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) after he was attacked by a dog that was on Celia’s land.
Most recently, Celia showed what she was capable of by manipulating Moira into a deal that didn’t even exist. She tricked the struggling farmer into thinking they should work together on a hotel contract, because they were both having trouble with comfortably running their farms.
Moira thought this was a brilliant idea. Just as she got her hopes up, Celia paid her another visit and confirmed it would no longer be going ahead.
Celia then made her way to Home Farm, and we learnt that she had been working with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) as part of the Tate family’s grand plan to buy all of the land that surrounds Home Farm. Celia proved to Joe that she was smart enough to work for him, and said it wouldn’t be long until they took Butlers from Moira.

Interestingly though, Celia showed that she wasn’t completely cold hearted and chose to tell Moira everything this week. She was furious, but decided to listen to Celia about the Tate plot and attempt to use the situation to her advantage.
That afternoon, Moira felt optimistic. It was clear that she hoped to create a dynamic duo with Celia, adamant they’d be able to go up against Joe and Kim Tate (Claire King).
In this evening’s episode, Celia popped by and found Moira arranging some flowers. She wanted to make herself useful and suggested getting a vase, but Moira confirmed to Celia that the flowers would be placed on Holly Barton’s grave.
This prompted Moira to open up about how her daughter died.

Holly Barton was first introduced to Emmerdale in July 2009, as the daughter of Moira and John Barton (James Thornton).
The Bartons moved into Butlers Farm, and it wasn’t long before Holly revealed to her family she’d been experimenting with drug use – after being caught giving Maisie cocaine.
Holly soon began stealing from friend Scarlett and overdosed, asking boyfriend Aaron (Danny Miller) to keep it a secret from her parents.
Sadly, Holly died in her bed in 2016 after returning home from a friend’s wedding, a heroin packet found on the floor beside her. Her body was discovered by a devastated Moira.

In the episode, Moira spoke about grief and how with time, she has moved forward and learnt her life can carry on without Holly in it.
The discussion of losing someone prompted Celia to open up when Moira asked about her family. She confirmed that she has a son, but she doesn’t see him much because he’s a grown man. She also revealed that she had a husband, but he died.
The moment of vulnerability caused Moira to remind Celia that she’s no longer on her own.
We don’t know Celia particularly well but up until tonight’s episode, having friends wasn’t on her list of priorities, but it appears that is beginning to change.
