New farmer Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) only arrived on our screens last night, but already Emmerdale fans are ‘obsessed’.
The newcomer arrived unannounced at Butler’s Farm and made quite an impression on Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) when she told her she wanted to rent two of her fields.
Moira practically scoffed at her lowball offer, but was taken aback when Celia pointed out that she needed the cash to pay off her fine.
Despite recognising that Celia was right, Moira declined to accept any money from her.
Later, Celia got into a mild tete a tete with Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) when she found his car parked up on the side of the road that intersected her fields.
After accusing him of trespassing, Celia headed off, and things escalated quickly when Paddy was attacked by a dog after freeing a sheep trapped in one of Celia’s fences.
Despite her interactions with the familiar characters being brief, fans are already loving the ‘villain’, with many excited to see what is to come for the character.
‘Oh I’m loving Celia,’ one fan wrote on X/Twitter, while another enthused: ‘I like Celia it’s been a while since we’ve had a strong female villain, I look forward to seeing more of her.’
‘Welcome Celia looks like she’s going to be causing a bit of trouble as well as being feisty,’ a third said, adding: ‘I think she’s going to be a good character addition and I like her already.’
‘After seeing Celia tonight, can already tell that Jaye Griffiths is going to be a great addition. can’t wait to see what’s coming up. have a feeling she is someone not to be messed with,’ another declared.
Elsewhere, others couldn’t help but notice that, like Moira, Celia appears to have a penchant for hats, and wondered if the two farmers may be set to bond over their favourite accessories.
‘Ok, Emmerdale, you’ve got my attention. Already obsessed with Celia and her hat,’ one said, while another joked: ‘Celia likes a hat, she should get on well with Moira… hat twins…’
Fans also enthused about Celia’s apparent similarities to Kim Tate (Claire King), with the show legend being known for her ruthlessness and scheming.
‘Newbie Celia is going to be trouble… She has the air of the old Kim about her,’ one pointed out.
‘Already obsessed with Celia. She’s got “classic Emmerdale” character written all over her. Can’t wait to see her wreak havoc in the village…’ another said.
