Emmerdale’s Dominic Brunt has confirmed he won’t be in the upcoming Corriedale episode.
The instalment, which will air at the start of January, will see characters from Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover for the first time ever.
It’s going to be a huge event, that’s guaranteed to change lives forever.
So far, characters that are set to feature include Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
We’re yet to find out the full cast list for this episode, but star Dominic Brunt has revealed that he sadly won’t be caught up in the crossover drama.
The actor, who has portrayed Paddy Kirk since 1997, featured on Loose Women this week to talk about best friend and co-star Lisa Riley’s time in I’m A Celebrity. When asked about Corriedale, he responded:
‘Well I’m fuming because I’m not in it!’.
‘I’d read the script, the script is incredible. It was weird having the Corrie lot in our canteen. I think, honestly, it’s going to be amazing. It’s a really good episode’.
Earlier this week, the first trailer dropped that teased the upcoming chaos that will unfold in Corriedale.
The clip reveals the carnage caused by a multi-vehicle pile up on a stormy country road near Hotten as the two worlds collide, while desperate voices can be heard calling for help as the emergency services arrive, with soap bosses promising: ‘The aftermath of the crash gives rise to fear, murderous intent, death, destruction, closely-guarded secrets, and lies.’
The huge episode marks the beginning of a new era in soapland, as it heralds the debut of both shows new transmission patterns, in which, from Monday to Friday, Emmerdale will air at 8pm and Coronation Street from 8:30pm.
Previously, Iain MacLeod, ITV’s Executive Producer for Continuing Drama, teased what’s to come in the special episode:
‘There is a massive buzz around both the Leeds and Manchester sites and the images coming out of the shoot are utterly spectacular.
‘And that’s before we’ve even got to all the brilliant transpennine interactions between characters from the different shows! As a soap fan myself, I think my head is going to explode when the episode airs next year. It will be mind-blowing, historical and unmissable.’
Corrie boss, Kate Brooks, also previously spoke on the upcoming crossover.
‘We’ve got a brilliant director. The script’s brilliant. The actors are loving it, because it’s so different and unique from what they’ve ever done before. I’ve been on set a few times.
‘The mood and the camaraderie is really infectious. People are loving working with people they have not worked with before. It’s just dead exciting. I just can’t help but imagine what my mum’s gonna be like watching this episode.
‘She’ll be so beside herself, because, as a soap fan, the idea of sitting down watching your two favourite shows with all your favourite characters interact in this massive, unmissable piece of telly, it’s just amazing.’
