Sam Dingle (James Hooton) took a stand in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, and quit his job at Home Farm.
Sam has been working for Kim Tate (Claire King) for years. When Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) returned, he decided to assign Sam as his new sidekick.
When he’s not working as a gamekeeper or fixing broken fence posts, Sam’s jobs include getting Joe’s posh car cleaned, and simply doing as he asks.
Sam’s money source was threatened a couple of weeks ago, when he stole some Christmas trees that were growing on a Home Farm field. The Dingles are in need of a large sum of cash to rewire the house, and Sam realised selling the trees for £50 each would mean they’d get the money relatively quickly.
Joe fired Sam, but hired him again not long after. Somewhere in Joe’s heart, he actually quite likes Sam and Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick), he just doesn’t express this very often.
Sam had a day off in tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, but was asked by Joe to fix a stone wall. He had enough on his plate trying to sort the house rewiring, but felt like he had to do what Joe wants – extra work means extra money, after all.
It became apparent that Sam couldn’t complete the task alone so he headed to Butlers to ask Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) for some help. He wasn’t there, so Sam chatted to Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) instead.
Matty works on his mum’s farm and could immediately see that Joe was taking advantage of Sam. He told him that Joe could use two workers from Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) farm instead of making Sam work on his day off.
Matty told Sam that if he doesn’t say something to Joe about how he’s treated now, the situation will go on and on.
When Sam returned to Home Farm, Joe didn’t care at all that he couldn’t complete the job properly, as he was too busy surfing the web for a new car.
Can’t wait for the next twist?

Irritated and at the end of his tether, Sam did indeed stand up to Joe, and even managed a few jibes about him causing the limo crash and destroying Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) marriage.
Sam quit his job on the spot which left Joe stunned.
If Sam refuses to come back to work until Joe treats him fairly, what will that mean for the Dingles and their cashflow problem?
