The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.
A very desperate Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) has been backed into a corner by Doctor Eddie Crowley (James Hillier) in Emmerdale.
A couple of days ago, Joe discovered that Crowley is Kim Tate’s (Claire King) new boyfriend. He had to do his best to keep a straight face in the reveal moment, and not tell Kim and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) that Crowley was responsible for holding him hostage, and performing the illegal kidney transplant operation earlier this year.
Joe held his own so he could discover what Crowley was really up to. When they were alone, Joe learnt that Crowley plans to steal all of Kim’s money, and needs his help to do it.

What happens to Joe Tate in Emmerdale?
Betraying Kim was the last thing Joe wanted to do, but it seemed as though he didn’t have any choice.
In this evening’s episode, Joe attempted to scare Eddie away by confronting him in the stables with a shotgun. With a variety of crimes already under his belt, it was no surprise that Joe couldn’t go through with shooting the dodgy surgeon.
Crowley reminded Joe that he really didn’t have a choice but to help him with the plan.
Joe already knows what Crowley is capable of, so he was fully aware that he’d report him to the police for the kidney operation, spiking of Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) and the limo crash, if he refused to co-operate.

Stressed and worried, Joe told Eddie that evening that he’d spoken to Kim about a business proposition – which is obviously made up.
He hoped that the promise of the money would be enough to make Eddie leave, but he’s been in this game a long time it would seem – he isn’t going anywhere until the cash is in his bank account.
What a nightmare.
