Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) came very close to murdering Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) in tonight’s Emmerdale, but he was unintentionally stopped by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
Joe has absolutely no idea that Graham is even still alive, and Graham wants to keep it that way.
Graham was supposed to have been murdered in 2020, but it recently transpired that he had help faking his death.
This week, we saw him return to the Emmerdale village for work, but his priorities changed when he paid Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) a visit and learnt that April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) had been targeted by Ray in his drug-dealing and people trafficking operation.
Ray had been ordered by Celia Daniels to ‘deal with’ April. In Celia’s language, that meant killing the teen to keep her quiet.
However, Ray couldn’t bring himself to do it, and instead paid April to run away, warning her that if Celia ever found out that she was still alive, her whole family would be in danger.
It didn’t take Graham long to track down Ray, and he immediately set about trying to extract a confession about what had happened to April.
Ray insisted that he had no idea where April had gone, but Graham continued to beat him until he gave him more information.
With none forthcoming, it seemed as though Ray was about to be killed by Graham, until Joe overheard the attack and went to investigate, leaving Graham with no choice but to run.
Thankfully for Graham, he hadn’t gone as far as to kill Ray, and managed to creep out of the community centre before Joe discovered that he was still alive.
Joe will of course find out that Graham is still alive in future scenes, which actor Andrew Scarborough really enjoyed filming.
‘It was lovely to flesh that out and it was very well written,’ he said. ‘The scenes are quite heightened, which I think they should be, as it’s an unreal situation for somebody to come back from the dead.

It was for the best that Graham didn’t finish Ray off, as Rhona later left him a message to tell him that things with April were sorted, and that he shouldn’t do whatever it was he was planning.
In the end, Ray ended up dead anyway, murdered by another man viewers once believed to be dead – Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards).
Though we’ve learnt a lot this week, we still have a lot of questions about Graham. Mainly, why he had Coronation Street newcomer Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) tied up in the back of his van.
What is his connection to Jodie? Was this another job he had been sent to complete? What were his plans before they were interrupted by the Corriedale pile-up?
So many questions!
