Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) made a new friend in tonight’s Emmerdale as he realised not everyone in the village is a fan of his brother John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).
A few weeks ago, John visited Robert in prison in an attempt to keep him away from the village, but more specifically, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller). Robert pushed John’s buttons so much, he grew incredibly angry and frustrated.
John threatened his brother, saying that he could take his life, and that he had no idea what he’s capable of.
Ever since, Robert has kept this interaction at the front of his mind. He returned to Emmerdale a couple of days later and told John and Aaron that he was back to spend more time with his family, but it was obvious he also wanted to get his ex away from his distant brother, who he thinks is dangerous.
Well, he’s not wrong.

Yesterday, Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) grew frustrated over being torn between her two brothers and decided to do something about it. She took John and Robert to some old family land and said their past relatives would never let fights bother them for very long, because they had to work together at the end of the day.
John and Robert understood what Vic was trying to say and shook hands. However, because this happened away from where Victoria was standing, she failed to hear John and Robert’s conversation as they made it abundantly clear they only intended to play happy families for their sister.
Continuing the act tonight, John and Robert found themselves attending a lunch at The Hide. It was terribly awkward, and Vic was definitely trying too hard.

Afterwards, Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) paid a visit to Vic to inform her that he’d be moving back to Butlers. Conversation then turned to the fact Robert still needs a job after losing his trial at the depot.
Knowing exactly what it’s like to re-adjust to normal life after time in prison, Matty gave Robert a chance and a few hours on the farm.
When Robert turned up at the barn, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) expressed his worry over Robert working alongside John, but he said it wouldn’t be a problem.
Robert’s shift at Butlers ended up going quite well. So much so, he decided to join Mack and Matty that afternoon for a few drinks in the pub.

As Matty went to the bar, Robert and Mack started talking about John.
Robert realised that Mackenzie wasn’t a massive fan of John. He said that he really didn’t like him previously, but his opinion of him has changed slightly due to John having his back a couple of times.
Despite this, Robert seemed to focus on the fact Mack does not share the same opinion as everyone else when it comes to John.
In his quest to prove that John is a bad man, will Robert gain Mackenzie’s support?
