Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan rejected statements by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in support of Israel, reminding him of the martyrdom of about 60,000 innocent people in Gaza and Tel Aviv’s continuation of the war of genocide and starvation against the Palestinians, wondering if Germany does not see that?

During a joint press conference on Thursday in Ankara with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Erdogan stressed the need to restrain Israel and put an end to genocide and famine in Gaza.

He explained that he exchanged views with Meretz on regional and international issues, indicating that Turkey, from the first day, highlighted the genocide in Gaza and placed it at the top of the international agenda, and that it made intensive efforts to achieve a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

“We must put an end to the genocide and famine in Gaza by involving the German Red Cross and the Turkish Red Crescent in this process,” he added.

Don’t you see this in Germany?

Erdogan stressed his opposition to the German Chancellor’s statements in support of Israel, explaining that nearly 60,000 children, women and the elderly were killed as a result of the Israeli attacks.

He stressed that the Hamas movement does not have bombs and does not possess nuclear weapons, but all of these weapons are in the hands of Israel, noting that Israel used these weapons, for example yesterday evening when it bombed Gaza again with these bombs.

He wondered: Don’t you see this in Germany? Do you not follow these developments in Germany? Israel has always sought to subjugate Gaza through starvation and genocide, and continues to do so today.

He explained that there are threats preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and that the Turkish Red Crescent is unable to deliver food aid there. Also, the Red Cross faces constant threats.

He stated that his country has tried so far to deliver more than 100,000 tons of food to Gaza, but it is not enough, stressing that it is necessary for this aid to continue.

On October 10, a ceasefire agreement in Gaza ended a two-year Israeli war that left more than 68,000 martyrs and 170,000 injured, most of them women and children. Despite the agreement, Israel committed many violations and continues to impose a strict siege on Gaza.

Since the entry into force of the agreement between Hamas and Tel Aviv, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and sponsored by the United States, 211 martyrs and 597 injured have been killed in Israeli raids and bombing, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
