Erin Andrews Predicts the NFL’s Surprise Breakout Teams: Exclusive

The NFL season is upon us, and who better to ask about breakout teams in the NFL than Erin Andrews? The sports personality recently caught up with Anne Erickson of Men’s Journal to talk about her participation in the Aflac’s Check for Cancer campaign, a national awareness movement to increase U.S. cancer screenings by 10 percent over the next 10 years.

Andrews, a cancer survivor, also talked about football. When asked for the big breakout teams this season, she named a few.

“You have your ones that people are thinking are going to pick up where they left off, like the Eagles and Lions, and there’s a lot riding on Stafford’s back with the Rams,” she said. “The Bills and Chiefs, everyone knows they’ll be right there. The Ravens are always so consistent, too. But, those aren’t really breakout teams.”

“I guess expectations are high in Denver for my buddy Sean Payton, so I’m excited about that for him,” she added. “That’s always a fun one for me, when his teams get good. I love covering him. I also heard on the radio the other day that they’re expecting Seattle’s defense to be pretty good, and with Sam Darnold there…so for me, it’s just like, I was trying to study this morning and get ready for our first game, and I’m like, I have a lot to go over right now.”

When asked for her thoughts on the Detroit Lions, specifically, Andrews had some kind words for the franchise.

“I love covering the Lions,” she said. “I love their organization. I love everything from their ownership to their GM to their head coach to their players. It’s a lot of fun.”

She added, “We had a lot of exciting games covering them last year. It was heartbreaking to see them go down in the playoffs that way they did, but I’m excited to see those guys.”
