Ex-Chiefs captain disappointed in Amakhosi signing ex-Pirates duo

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Lucas Radebe says he feels disappointed by Amakhosi snatching up Orlando Pirates duo.

It was reported earlier this month that the Glamour Boys signed Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane after getting released by the Buccaneers.

Speaking to iDiski Times, the former Bafana Bafana captain said the club needs to have proper scouts to bring in talent, rather than signing free agents.

“I think it’s not what Kaizer Chiefs used to be,” Radebe said.

Former Chiefs captain asks questions about scouts and talent searching

“I think we need to have a proper scout who they looking for new talent. I mean, nowadays football is changing. You need in order for coaches to do well, they need ever-ready players.

“Which for me I think it let us down and I think it’s all about now development. Going to the grassroots and uprooting the players that will actually play better that are hungry enough to make it in this level of the game,” the former Chiefs captain said as per iDiski Times.

The Soweto giants have released five players in the past four weeks but are yet to announce new signings. Amakhosi’s marketing director Jessica Motaung mentioned this week that the new players will be announced just before the club jets off to the Netherlands for their pre-season.

So far, Kaizer Chiefs have renewed the contract of their captain Yusuf Maart, but no news on Reeve Frosler and George Matlou’s contracts.
