After almost eight years in Coronation Street, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) is preparing to turn her back on the cobbles for good in upcoming episodes – and it’s all for love.
When we first saw Abi in the show her life was in chaos. Following an overdose, her young twins were taken into care. She then struggled in the aftermath of the death of her oldest son, Seb (Harry Visinoni), who was brutally killed on the night of Abi’s hen do as she prepared to marry Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).
A fling with Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) as she pursued justice for Seb resulted in Abi becoming pregnant with her son Alfie. Abi initially rejected the baby, and then faced a custody battle with Imran and his partner Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).
More recently Abi has enjoyed a more settled life with Kevin, Alfie and Kevin’s son Jack (Kyran Bowes). But meeting Kevin’s brother Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) threw her domestic stability up in the air.

Recently she and Carl gave in to an attraction that’s been simmering between them ever since they first set eyes on each other, and the two have started an affair.
Their romance has so far remained a secret, but in upcoming episodes Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) – who’s been pursuing Carl herself – is disappointed to hear from Carl that he’s in love with someone else. She guesses it’s Abi, though he denies it.
Doing a bit of spying, Tracy peeps through the Websters’ kitchen window and sees Carl and Abi kissing, her theory confirmed.
When Abi finds out that Tracy knows what’s going on, she’s taken aback. She meets up with Tracy in the cafe and explains that she never planned to fall for Carl, it was just something that happened out of the blue. She insists she doesn’t want to hurt Kevin and begs Tracy not to tell anyone about her discovery.

Tracy is feeling aggrieved that Carl should choose his sister in law rather than her, but will she agree to keep silent for Abi’s sake?
Abi isn’t confident at all that she can trust Tracy – and you can’t really blame her for that. So she has a proposal for Carl.
She suggests that they could leave Weatherfield together and start a new life in Germany, where Carl was brought up.
Will he agree with her suggestion? Could Abi and Carl soon be packing their bags and heading abroad?
