Explaining why people think Daniel Kaluuya joined a cult after tweet about the saga goes viral

It’s been a while since Daniel Kaluuya was in a huge film. He’s not had a starring role beyond some voice acting in an animated Spider Man film since he starred in Jordan Peele’s Nope. After a tweet did the rounds lamenting how “movies used to have Daniel Kaluuya” – a quoted response simply saying “He joined a cult” has gone mega viral with over 22.5 million views and dug up some rumours from 2022 that circled Kaluuya after he got close to a spiritual ‘life strategist’ named Heir Holiness and sacked several key members of his team including his agent and his publicist. Both Daniel Kaluuya and Heir Holiness have addressed the rumours in the years since, but here’s a rundown of the entire saga now the tweet has people discovering the rumours for the first time.

There were ‘concerns’ on the set of Nope

Heir Holiness had declared on a now deleted LinkedIn post she was the personal manager of Daniel Kaluuya. There was an insider at the time who spoke about concerns on the set of Nope, saying “People on the ‘Nope’ set were very concerned that Heir had ‘taken over’ DK’s life and all decisions had to go through her. I’ve heard there were multiple blow-ups and the production
people were afraid of her.”

Heir Holiness is self described as a “life strategist,” “Head Mistress” of “The International Alma Mater, Blessed University,” and a “spiritual gangster serving a life sentence in a human body”. As of 2025, her online presence is greatly reduced and she’s unable to trace. She hasn’t posted on her Twitter profile since 2022.

Daniel Kaluuya and Heir Holiness spoke out addressing the concerns

Daniel Kaluuya spoke about the situation and the cult allegations in his profile for The Hollywood Reporter at the time but didn’t confirm or deny Holiness’ claim that she was his “life strategist”.

He told The Hollywood Reporter :“It showed me that I was in a paradigm of fame. An unnamed, unverified source has more credibility than what is actually said and the truth of the situation. Like, ‘Wow, so a bunch of people decided it’s happening, then it’s happened?’ And it’s like, well, that’s not what’s happened.

“A lot of these stories are just about journalists being perplexed about things, and then that’s the story,” he continues. “I understand. I just find it odd because everyone’s different.”

Heir Holiness said at the time via Instagram Stories that the news was fake. She continued by saying Daniel Kaluuya “had some problems in his business with some people, and he fired them,” and asks, “What does that have to do with me?” “I don’t know why they got fired exactly,” she says, alleging that “I never met any of these people. None of the people that got fired have I ever seen in person and I do not know them. I don’t know why they got fired exactly.”

What’s the situation now?

Whatever dynamic Daniel Kaluuya and Heir Holiness had in 2022 seems to be over. Daniel Kaluuya is now as of May 2025 signed with WME management for his representation. As well as WME, Kaluuya continues to be represented by B-Side Management and Johnson Shapiro Slewett and Kole.
