EVANS, Ga. (WJBF)- A new program is coming to Columbia County School District.
It will be for all schools, and it involves string instruments.
This program is for 5th-12th graders and it is designed to help them explore the world of music through string instruments.
Instruments like the violin, viola, guitar, harp and more will be part of the program.
Students will learn from instructors once a week after school, at either Brookwood Elementary School or Lakeside High School.
Columbia County School District Fine Arts Coordinator explains how the program will work.
“So we’re going to have a beginners where they’re going to just start learning the basics of strings starting on the violin. And then our intermediate is going to pretty much see where they’re at at their level and expand it. But I think the biggest thing is they’re going to be able to work in a collaborative group with a professional that really is going to stretch them musically,” said Columbia County School District Fine Arts Coordinator, Danielle Starcher.
Over 200 people have applied and space is limited.
