If you’ve purchased eggs recently, check your cartons. On August 27, eggs sold by Country Eggs, LLC of Lucerne Valley, California were recalled by the Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA) due to potential Salmonella contamination.
So far, 92 people have become ill after consuming the eggs, and the FDA is urging those who purchased the eggs to throw them away or return them to the store for a refund.
The eggs of concern are Country Eggs’ Large Brown Cage-Free Sunshine Yolks that were distributed in California and Nevada to both grocery stores and food service distributors with sell-by dates of 7/1/25 through 9/16/25. The individual cartons of concern include:
- Nagatoshi Produce, Lot No. CA 7695
- Misuho, Lot No. CA 7695
- Nijiya Markets, Lot No. CA 7695

There have been no reported deaths related to the recall. The FDA has suspended production of the product to investigate the source.Salmonella can cause serious bacterial infections, especially in young children, frail or elderly people or those with weakened immune systems, according to the FDA.
Symptoms of an infection include watery diarrhea, headache, fever, abdominal cramps and/or loss of appetite that appear within 8 to 72 hours after infection and can last several days, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
