The appointment of a new prosecutor in Mexico is close. The Chamber of Senators prepared a list of 10 candidates to occupy the position, from which President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo must prepare a shortlist that will be returned to the senators to elect whoever occupies the position of the Prosecutor’s Office.

The Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Senate reduced the list of people aspiring to occupy the position of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) from 43 to 10.vacant after the resignation of Alejandro Gertz Manero on November 27.
The list is made up of five men and five women, among them Ernestina Godoy Ramos, current office manager of the FGR.

This list selected by the Jucopo must be submitted this Tuesday to the vote of the full Senatewhich will require a qualified majority of two-thirds of the legislators present for its approval.

Once endorsed, The list will be sent to the head of the Executive Branch, who must make up a shortlist that will be presented to the Senate, whose plenary session will finally elect who will occupy the position for a period of nine years..
