Fifteen districts on the continent are being affected by persistent and sometimes heavy precipitation until Saturday, seven of which are already under orange warning, indicated this Friday, October 31, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to IPMA, the districts of Aveiro, Bragança, Vila Real, Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra and Leiria are under orange warning until Saturday due to persistent and sometimes heavy precipitation.
Also due to heavy rain The districts of Braga, Viana do Castelo, Porto, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Santarém, Lisbon and Setúbal are under yellow warning.
Bragança and Vila Real have been under orange warning since early afternoon today, due to persistent and sometimes heavy rainfall, a situation that lasts until 6am on Saturday, when they become yellow warning, until 9am.
For the same reasons, the districts of Aveiro, Coimbra, Viseu and Leiria are under orange warning until 09:00 on Saturday, changing to yellow between 09:00 and noon, while the district of Guarda is under orange warning until 12:00 on Saturday, changing to yellow until 15:00.
Due to sometimes heavy rain, the districts of Braga and Viana do Castelo are, until 9pm today, under yellow warning, which then increases to orange until 3am, when it returns to yellow until 6am.
The Porto district is under yellow warning until 9pm today, when it switches to orange due to persistent and sometimes heavy rainfall, returning to the yellow level at 6am, which lasts until 9am on Saturday.
Castelo Branco is under yellow warning due to heavy rainfall until 06:00 on Saturday, when it turns orange until 12:00, returning to yellow between noon and 15:00.
Lisbon and Santarém are under yellow warning until 06:00 on Saturday, when they become orange, until 12:00.
Due to persistent and, at times, heavy rainfall, the Lisbon district is once again under yellow warning between 12pm and 3pm on Saturday.
In Portalegre, rainfall, sometimes heavy, especially in the northern part of the district, led to a yellow warning until 9pm today and a new yellow warning for persistent and sometimes heavy rain between 6am and 6pm on Saturday.
Setúbal is under yellow warning for precipitation, sometimes heavy, especially in the northern part of the district until 9pm today and then between 6am and 3pm on Saturday.
The districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Braga, Aveiro, Lisbon, Coimbra and Leiria are also under yellow warning until 9pm today due to sea unrest, with waves of four meters, considered of “significant height”.
IPMA warnings – red, orange and yellow – are issued when there is a risky meteorological situation, which can be assessed as high, moderate or reduced risk.
