Final Fantasy 14 has had a rocky time since the release of the Dawntrail expansion in 2024. The previous update, Patch 7.3, concluded the story arc that began in Dawntrail, and Patch 7.4 is on the horizon, bringing the beginning of a new story arc, Glamour updates, and more.
Patch 7.4, called Into the Mist, will release tomorrow, December 16, and the most significant addition for subscribers is the new Main Story Quests. There is a total of nine new story quests. Players will have to have completed all Main Story Quests up to this point in order to play that new content.
New Raid content will be added, with the addition of the final Raid tier for Dawntrail, called The Arcadion: Heavyweight Edition. This will be the conclusion of the Raid storyline, too.
A new Variant Dungeon, called The Merchant’s Tale, will be added.
A new regular dungeon will be added, called Mistwake.
A new trial will be added, called Hells on Wheels. There will also be an Extreme version of the fight. Notably, the boss is Doomtrain, a Guardian Force summon from Final Fantasy 8.
There will be a new Unreal trial added, called Tsukuyomi’s Pain (Unreal).
Additionally, a new PvP series is set to begin with a new game mode called Frontline Campaign: Worqor Chirteh, new Phantom Jobs are coming to The Occult Crescent, new Relic Weapon quests are being added, Hildebrand’s storyline continues, and a lot more.
What’s probably the most notable change is an update to the Glamour system. Starting with Patch 7.4, there will no longer be job restrictions on gear in the game. If fans want to dress their Warrior as a White Mage, they can easily do so.
For a full list of additions, check out the preliminary patch notes. It seems the only information we currently lack is related to job changes and rebalancing, if there are any changes. Exact changes for jobs and roles will likely be posted later today or right as the update goes live.
