It’s been a long time coming, but fans of the hit series The Boys may finally be able to see the finish line. While a popular series coming to an end is the perfect mixture of excitement with a bit of sadness, Season 5 of The Boys has all the makings of one of the most exciting final stretches of any show in recent memory. Now, creator and showrunner Eric Kripke has finally provided an optimistic update on where things stand, suggesting the release is coming sooner rather than later.
Eric Kripke Breaks Silence on Status of Season 5 of ‘The Boys’

While the anticipation remains high, and The Boys spin-off series Gen V helped to briefly relieve the waiting period ahead of Season 5, Kripke took to Instagram to reveal the latest. In the post (which also cited Gen V), Kripke posted the following update on the status of the final season of the Amazon Prime Video series.
“We’re hard at work finishing @theboystv Final Season. Here’s me and some of the VFX team today,” Kripke wrote. “Editing is all done, we’re roughly halfway finished with VFX, Music, Color. I’m really happy with how it’s going and can’t wait for you to see. We go out with a bang. COMING (reasonably) SOON.”
While the “reasonably” part of Kripke’s comment was a well-placed addition to the update, the fact that editing is done points to a positive update on the timeline for Season 5 of The Boys.
It’s long been anticipated that the fifth and final season would come out in 2026, but this update offers some optimism that it could be early in 2026, rather than in the latter part of the year.
