Fire rips through 13-storey building in east London storing 200 LED acid batteries

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a data centre building on Nutmeg Lane in Blackwall E14.A small part of a basement battery room, storing around 200 LED acid batteries in a 13 storey building, was destroyed by fire. The Brigade's 999 Control officers received their first call about the fire at 0452 and deployed crews from Poplar, Millwall, Plaistow, Stratford, East Ham and East Greenwich fire stations. The fire was under control by 0643. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Dozens of firefighters have been talking a blaze at a building in east London.

A basement battery room was damaged by fire after breaking out at the data centre in Nutmeg Lane, Blackwall, just before 5am today.

London Fire Brigade says the room was storing around 200 LED acid batteries, which have been destroyed.

Crews from Poplar, Millwall, Plaistow, Stratford, East Ham and Greenwich Fire Stations attended the scene.

The cause is currently under investigation.
