First look as new Coronation Street family takes over the Rovers – with two familiar faces

Change is afoot on the cobbles of Coronation Street next week as a new family arrives to take over the iconic Rovers Return pub – and you’ll recognise two of them already.

Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) is set to make her long-awaited return to Weatherfield after seven years, and she isn’t alone.

In her time away, she has met a new man and taken on two step-children, one of whom is a familiar face to Corrie viewers.

It turns out that Eva’s new husband Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) is actually the father of Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) – Dee-Dee Bailey’s (Channique Sterling-Brown) boyfriend.

Viewers may remember that Ollie showed an interest in getting to know Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) a couple of weeks ago, and now it is clear why.

Eva will of course catch up with sisters Toyah and Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), and it is safe to say that, after the events of the past few years, there will likely be chaos ahead.

Meanwhile, it will become clear that Dee-Dee had not been told about Ollie’s family relocating to the street – how will she react?

Iconic barmaid Eva will also have daughter Susie (Aurora Bradshaw) in tow, who we last saw as a baby, with Ben’s youngest son Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) set to join them.

In a new trailer, Eva and her new family waste no time in settling into the Rovers, which Carla Connor (Alison King) had been trying to sell for months.

Viewers will know that Carla took control of the iconic boozer and put it on the market to cover the debt Jenny Connor and Daisy Midgeley owed her after stealing from Underworld.

When Eva and Ben first arrive on the Cobbles, he surprises her by revealing that she is the new landlady as he has bought the pub.

Keen to get stuck in straight away, Eva and Ben hold an opening night party to welcome the regulars, when a bombshell is dropped by Eva’s new mother-in-law, Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn).

It sounds as though Maggie and Eva’s relationship is set to be a complicated one, with actress Catherine Tyldesley explaining that if she wasn’t her mother-in-law, they would likely have been friends.

‘The way the writers have structured things for our characters, it’s hilarious, it’s constant jibes,’ She mused.

‘But I think deep down, there’s a moment that we did not so long ago where Eva, in a roundabout way, says “If I wasn’t with Ben and I’d just met Maggie, I think we’d be mates.”

‘There’s a lot of similarities,’ she added.

What do the Driscolls have up their sleeves as they arrive with a bang and plenty of secrets?
