Ford Issued 5 Recalls in a Single Day This August. They Affected 1.3 Million Vehicles

Ford is one of the top 10 largest car companies in the world, so the company has a large number of vehicles in circulation. When the company announces a recall, it can affect hundreds of thousands of consumers.

The auto manufacturer has recently announced a string of recalls, including five in a single day in August, which collectively affected 1.3 million vehicles.

The company announced the Aug. 22 recalls through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Consumers can search for recalls through the NHTSA database. Ford also has a page for recalls on its website.

The Month of August Saw Ford’s ‘Most Extensive Action Yet’

Why it matters? The month of August “brought the most extensive action yet” for Ford, according to Auto Blog. In June, that publication reported that Ford had announced recalls for 1.1 million vehicles on a single day. But Aug. 22 exceeded that.

The recalls announced on Aug. 22 are as follows, according to NHTSA:

  • The largest recall on Aug. 22 was for 499,129 Ford vehicles, NHTSA documents show. One of the affected vehicles in that recall was the 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX. The other was for the 2015-2018 Ford Edge.
  • The second largest recall involved the 2025-2026 Ford F-550 SD and 2025-2026 Ford F-450 SD. It affected 355,656 vehicles, according to government documents.
  • Ford also announced a recall for 213,121 2025 Explorer and Aviator vehicles. “When towing a trailer, the tail lights on the trailer may fail to illuminate due to an improperly manufactured body control module,” the notice says.
  • Another Ford recall announced on Aug. 22 was for 105,441 vehicles involving the 2024-2025 Ford Mustang. “Water may enter the body control module and cause a loss of communication with the exterior lighting, including the license plate light, side marker, and tail lights,” the notice says.
  • And, finally, Ford said it was recalling 100,900 vehicles, identifying them as 2024 to 2026 Ford Rangers. That recall notice says: “The side curtain air bags may contact the B-Pillar inner reinforcements and tear during deployment.”

The recall notice for the Lincoln MKX and the Ford Edge says, “Affected vehicles are equipped with suspect rear brake jounce hoses. The recalled rear brake hose were introduced into production on November 11, 2014, and were taken out of production December 17, 2017.”

“As of June 9, 2025, Ford is aware of 64 warranty claims, 3 field reports, and 16 customer complaints related to rear brake jounce hose leaks,” the recall report says.

The recall notice for the second largest recall says, “A blank IPC screen upon startup may render safety-related telltales and gauges unreadable in certain conditions. An IPC that does not clearly display critical safety information can increase the risk of a crash.”
