Ford has issued a series of prominent recalls in 2025. In August 2025 alone, the auto company issued five recalls that totaled 1.3 million vehicles.
The recalls affected multiple models and involved a variety of issues and equipment, from tail lights to airbags.
Now, Ford has announced yet another recall, and this one affects nearly 1.5 million vehicles.
The Latest Ford Recall Is Due to a ‘Blank or Distorted Rearview Camera Image’
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says on its website that the recall was initiated on Sept. 4, 2025, due to a “blank or distorted rearview camera image.”
“A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” according to NHTSA.

The government agency provided additional details:
- The affected equipment is labeled “back over prevention.”
- The number of potential units affected is listed as 1,456,417.
- The recall governs certain 2015 to 2019 models.
The affected models are the F-450 SD 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles.
“The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse,” according to the recall notice.
“Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge,” the recall notice says.
