After evading calls to appear several times, the former mayor of Motul Roger Aguilar Arroyo He reappeared this Friday before the State Judiciary to participate in a hearing in which his defense requested to accumulate in a single file the processes and investigation folders against him for alleged diversion of public resources.
According to the information collected, Aguilar Arroyo is currently facing two judicial processes initiated and three more folders in integration, related to alleged irregularities committed during his first municipal administration in Motulin the period 2018-2021.
The hearing had been suspended on previous occasions for different reasons. It was finally carried out under strict security measures and lasting approximately half an hour.
They allege that they did not have access to a comprehensive defense
The defense of the former councilor, who is currently general director of the Institute of Regional and Municipal Development (Inderm) in the State government, requested that all files be integrated for joint analysis.
The argument was that the facts attributed to him are directly related and that the dispersion of the cases hinders his right to a comprehensive defense.
Specialists in criminal matters point out that this strategy could delay the progress of procedures or dilute specific responsibilities, since the accumulation would allow deadlines to be extended and procedural actions already initiated to be reviewed again.
Case marked by postponements and criticism
The judicial case of Roger Aguilar, known as “Zorro” in the political sphere, has been the subject of a series of criticisms from citizens and political actors, who consider that he has enjoyed preferential treatment and atypical procedural delays, due to his proximity with groups linked to Morena.
Last September, Control Judge Diana Yadira Garrido Colonia suspended an intermediate hearing at the request of the defense, with the argument that an accumulation letter should be reviewed. That resource temporarily stopped the progress of the case and generated new accusations of judicial protection and “political management” of the file.
In Motulseveral suppliers and former municipal employees affected by the alleged deviations continue to demand that investigations be accelerated and responsibilities be established.
In the afternoon it was learned that today the accumulation of folders 252/2022 was accessed, which is reported to the First Control Courtand 157/2023 and 175/2023, which are followed in the Second Control Court.
