Chippa United have opened the door to former Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu defender-cum-midfielder Abbubaker Mobara to show what he can offer.
The 31-year-old has been without a club for six months after a fallout with Usuthu coach Arthur Zwane.
CHIPPA UNITED ASSESSING FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES STAR ABBUBAKER MOBARA
According to iDiski Times’ leading reporter Sinethemba Makonco, Mobara arrived at Chippa earlier this week and will spend the coming days being evaluated by the technical team.
“Former Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu defender Abbubaker Mobara has arrived at Chippa United for an assessment in the coming weeks,” the report said. “This publication established that Chippa are assessing Mobara after he arrived two days ago.”

The Eastern Cape clubs’ head coach, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, previously worked with the Mobara during their time together at AmaZulu.
The Mitchells Plain-born footballer played six out of Vilakazi’s limited nine-match tenure at AmaZulu last season.
Chippa are currently in a significant struggle. The Chilli Boyz find themselves at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table in 16th place with just 9 points from 15 games in the 2025/2026 season.
Having bizarrely changed coaches four times, Chippa only have one win, six draws, and eight losses.
MR VERSATILE
The Cape Town Spurs academy graduate made his professional debut for the club formerly known as Ajax Cape Town when he was 18.
He can play as a centre-back, defensive midfielder and right-back. He has nine caps for Bafana Bafana and memorably pocketed Brazil’s Neymar at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
After establishing himself at Ikamva, he joined Orlando Pirates. That move, which came too soon, was followed by a spell at Cape Town City, and most recently, AmaZulu FC.
He was also named the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament during the 2016-17 season.
