It’s the true story of British radio presenter Kirat Assi, who was catfished for nearly 10 years in total.

The Tinder Swindler landed on Netflix in 2022 and tells the true story of a man who posed as a wealthy diamond mogul who met women on dating apps and conned them out of millions of dollars. In the documentary, women group together to hunt him down and get their money back. Another scam documentary with the same woman from The Tinder Swindler was just released on Netflix too.

Released in 2010, Catfish is the film that inspired the whole Catfish TV show. It’s about a New York photographer called Nev Shulman who gets a Facebook request from a child named Abby, and she turns out to be someone else. It’s a true story, and Nev Schulman went on to host the popular show on MTV after his experience.

Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara follows Tegan Quinn, from the pop group Tegan and Sara, who was the victim of identity theft and a continuous catfishing scam for more than 15 years. She talks about it in the documentary, and it’s available to watch on Disney+.
