An operation coordinated by the Control, Command, Communication, Computing and Quality Center (C5) allowed the capture of four alleged criminals, including a minor, accused of crimes against health and carrying a prohibited weapon, in addition to their probable participation in extortion of merchants in the Toluca Valley.
The deployment occurred within the framework of the Argos Operation, derived from the state Peace Roundtables. The alert originated after a call to the 9-1-1 emergency number, in which a group of armed individuals were reported traveling aboard a white Toyota Prius vehicle with the color of a Querétaro taxi, allegedly used to extort money in different communities.
After receiving the notice, the C5 issued real-time tracking of the car, locating it on the road Toluca-Atlacomulconear the town of Mavoro, municipality of Jocotitlán.
Elements of the Special Services Group (ASES) intercepted the unit and asked the crew to stop for a preventive inspection.
During the inspection, the agents detected irregularities in the license plates, which turned out to be simulated, and inside the vehicle they found bags with dry herb with characteristics of marijuana and a metal knife with wooden handles. Given the evidence, the four occupants were arrested at the scene.
The insured were identified as Nemesio “N”, 36 years old; Jairo “N”, 35; José “N”, 25; and a teenager whose identity was withheld by law. The latter was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry specialized in juvenile offenders based in Zinacantepec, while the other three men were transferred to the Ixtlahuaca Prosecutor’s Office to determine their legal situation.
According to the first reports, the detainees could be linked to a series of extortions committed in San Francisco Tlacilalcalpan, community of Almoloya de Juárez, where local merchants reported threats and floor charges in recent weeks.
State authorities do not rule out that the gang has used the taxi-style vehicle to move between municipalities and evade police action.
